Ian Vorster

ABOUT

Travel - Geographic - Adventure - Conservation

Ian has been published by National Geographic, NPR, PBS and Discover  Magazine, among many others.  Currently working for the National Park Service as a multimedia storyteller, his work includes a book project about the Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance Program's work with Native American tribes, photography that covers a number of National Recreation and National Scenic Trails, and short video documentaries about the Rock Island rail to trail project and the Anza Cultural Park which is fully accessible. He has written extensively about parks and trails funded by the Land and Water Conservation Fund and will be filming a longform documentary about the 500-mile Ohio River Way in 2026.

 

Ian is also the founding publisher and executive editor of the Geotravel Journal, a digital magazine which focusses on adventure travel and conservation initiatives through the lens of geotourism and destination stewardship. He serves as the managing editor for the Destination Stewardship Center's Destination Stewardship Report and welcomes inquires for freelance assignments.
